Kenya Lodengo School/Hospital/Clinic
Beyond the Bricks Board Members with their family members were at it again helping to bring smiles to school children’s faces by fixing broken playground equipment, building benches for the dining area, as well cleaning out and repainting blackboards for the classrooms at AIC Lodengo Primary School in East Pokot, Kenya. It was a great pleasure for us to be able to take a day to go down to the valley for a work day at the school during a month-long trip where Kemp Laidley and his family were serving at Kapsowar Mission Hospital in Kenya. They met up with Dr. Kyle Jones, a Family Medicine Physician, who has been serving in Kapsowar for the past 11 years. Kyle started the School as well as a Health Center among the Pokot people, beginning the work in 2010. He partnered with a local missionary who had recently started the first church in that area. Shortly after Kyle said God brought him into the ministry to combine what he believes are 3 of the main goals that Christ has for His Church to be doing which are to preach the kingdom of God, to heal the sick, and to teach.
It was so fun to go down and install a tire swing which may be the first one they have ever seen and the only one in the area. Immediately the local kids who gathered around began to enjoy swinging on it. The school’s goal is to bring quality education to the children of East Pokot and bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the students and their families all for the glory of God. We have already seen this happening and look forward to partnering more in the future with this School and Health Center, based in the small village of Lodengo, to advance the gospel. We appreciate the donors to Beyond the Bricks who helped make this project possible.
