Liberia Deaf School
Liberia Deaf School
While attending an IPM regional Pastor’s conference in Accra, Ghana in 2005, Pastor Gbor was first introduced to the idea of deaf ministry. Like so many, he was unaware of their struggles and hopelessness, especially in his own country. God had planted a seed in Pastor Gbor’s heart.
That seed wouldn’t effectively begin to grow until 2012 when He attended a deaf ministries conference again in Ghana, where he met pastor David Bennett, a deaf missionary from Silent World Ministries International (SWIMI).
Invited by Pastor Gbor and Pastor Troy, David Bennet came to Liberia along with other deaf workers and began the process of training those who would be involved in deaf ministry. The deaf school at The Great Commission Fundamental Baptist Church in Ganta Liberia started to develop.
Beyond the Bricks became involved when they were introduced to the fledgling school by Emmanuel Gaye in 2018. Emmanuel was a former student of Trudy Petersen while attending bible college. Trudy and Dave had helped support many of her former students by providing curriculum, bibles, and teacher training to many of the schools where those students were now involved. On one such trip across Liberia, Dave and Trudy along with Kemp and Amy Laidley were confronted with the needs of the growing deaf school at The Great Commission fundamental Baptist Church in Ganta.
